| » What are the advantages of visible light curing systems for electronic applications? |
Using the BlueWave® LED visible
light curing system for electronic applications offers many advantages over
traditional UV light curing systems. Benefits include cooler cures,
no warm-up time required, no bulbs to change, and a useful life of 50,000 hours! Find out more...

» What is the difference between a visible light curing system and a traditional UV light curing system? |
The main difference between visible light and UV light curing systems is the frequency that is transmitted in order to address the curing needs of various adhesive, potting or coating materials. Learn more... |
» How do I know if my LCM (Light Curing Material) will cure with visible light only? |
In any light curing process, feasibility and
efficiency of cure are dependent on the sensitivity of the specific LCM to
the spectral output emitted by the curing system. Typically, a curing system
with a wider energy spectrum will cure more types of LCMs than a narrow
spectrum curing system.
Visible light systems, like the BlueWave® LED,
transmit a select, narrow band of light. They will not cure inks or solder
masks which are typically sensitive to lower wavelengths of light. Learn more... |
» Which types of applications are best suited for visible light curing? |
Electronic applications including wire tacking, peelable masking, and conformal coating repair are common, although almost any application is possible with the proper LCM. Typically, suitability for electronic applications depends on the following factors:
- Sensitivity of the LCM to the narrow energy band emitted by the light source
- Required speed of cure
- Amount of LCM exposed to oxygen and surface cure requirements
|
» How can I tell if a LCM is compatible with a visible light curing system? |
Some DYMAX electronic materials work especially well, including
9481,
9-911 Rev A,
and
9-318 F.
Since cure performance is LCM specific, it is recommended that potential users check with LCM manufacturers prior to designing a cure process. The manufacturer can comment on the LCM’s sensitivity to the narrow energy band emitted by the BlueWave LED.
